I ordered this from Bailey and needless to say it is another wonderful example of his skills.....one-piece contured handle with Scott Sawby's locking mechanism.

Knowing how Bailey can put a hamon on a blade, I figured this would be a great 'canvas' for such and I was not disappointed!!!

Perfect fit and finish, EXTREMELY sharp, outrageously slim and locks up like a vault....couldn't ask for more, IMO.

So you were the one who got the one with the hamon! Very nice!

Bailey once told me that he uses pins because he can get tighter tolerances with them than with screws. Or at least screws that he hasn't made. My guess is he doesn't want to be in the screw-making business. :) From what I understand the self-lock requires really tight tolerances and pins make it more doable.

Nice going, Dudley. I've been wishing for VERY clear photos of this one since Bailey first proposed it. Score. He's working on that, but you achieved it.

Thank you and congrats!

I like it. On the one hand the hi-tech lock and CNC machining propel this into the modern era. Screws and a machined stud might complete this 'look'.

On the other hand, hammered pins and the bronze/brass/gold stud has an older charm to it, as does the dropped edge blade and patina. A juxtaposition, if you will.

Room for many ideas.

I really dig these folders - I particularly like your variation with the hamon. Too cool.
