Superleaf: Everything good about the XL Manix but none of the bad?

I can't warm up to the Manix 2 XL I just bought. The CBB lock is hard to close, I don't care for the gimped liners, and I don't like the way it carries in my pocket.

I recently re-found out about the Superleaf, which has a 4mm thick blade  compression lock :D and same basic shape and contours of the Manix. Is this a no brainer here? Should I go for the Superleaf instead? I don't hear much talk about it, but I'm thinking its just an underrated blade. :)

I think the main thing is VG-10 vs s30v. That's probably what stopped the superleaf from really taking off. Not that VG-10 is a bad steel but people have their preferences

I don't have a Manix XL but I do have a Superleaf. I really like the knife. It's sturdy and isn't hard to carry. I do think it's very underrated and I'm not sure why it isn't talked about more often.

Oh and I plan on picking up a superleaf at some point.

Edit: A U.S.A made superleaf in S30V (ideally m390 :D) and CF scales would be amazing.

The Superleaf may be the most underrated in Spydercos lineup. It's very tough, but still an excellent slicer. It's also lighter than the Manix 2 XL, which is nice. It's one of my favorites.

Exactly. The liners are milled out plus it has a wire clip.

And I don't mind VG10. I have a Delica and Endura both of which are far more than adequate in the EDC role. It is somewhere between CM154 and S30V.

The Superleaf does not get a lot of discussion time on the forums but it is one of Spyderco's best designs. It's big, relatively light, carries well, and has a flow-through design for easy cleaning. The compression lock is terrific. It feels good in my hand and I like the structured handle. There is a lot to like about the Superleaf.

Yeah, it's a sweet knife. The thick blade is a big part of the attraction for me. It's wide when closed so that can be an issue in some front pockets.
Good ergos, wire clip, thick blade and strong tip and a good slicer. It's a winner and yes, underrated.

My two hardest used knives are my Para 2 and my Super Leaf. The compression lock is easily as strong as any other lock in the folding knife world.

My only issue with the Super Leaf is that the handle is huge for what seems like no good reason. it could easily have the same profile as the para2 when folded but the excess on the pinky rest and the excess going up behind the thumb ramp make for a much larger profile. Also, it would be nice if the bottom back corner of the tang would line up with the lines of the scales when closed like most of the other spydies do.

I have a superleaf and like it very much. I also just ordered the Manix 2 xl. I have several of the regular size ones and like them so I expect to like the xl as well. I thought the almost 4in blade would be nice.
Edit: My new Manix 2 xl just showed up and I'm very pleased with it. Very nice bevel. Fits great in the hand. Really sharp, perfectly centered and the ball bearing lock is easy to manipulate with index finger and thumb. I also really like that grippe G 10. It's really a toss up as to which one I like better, Superleaf or the Manix 2 xl they are both superb knives. Spyderco is becoming my favorite production knife company. Still patiently waiting on my Lionspy.
