I just got these two beauties in the mail; finally have the 8 series complete; now all I need is a mini Roadhouse to complete that series; I got to say that the super 8 is a real monster of a knife! Im gonna have to make a sheath for it, anything longer than 4 inches is illegal to carry concealed here in SD, as far as I know, but maybe I'll just carry it as is; this thing is big.

After that I think I shall work on the Commander series, what do you guys think? At one point in time I have to have a 15 and its variants also; so many choices so little money. Anyway, I just thought I'd share the excitement with you guys; now, pics:

Love the low serial on the SDRH:

Nothing better than some supers. Awesome knives enjoy ' em and thanks for sharing.

I always forget to say something when I make a new post, I think I prefer the backspacer to the new stand offs; yeah, the ergonomics on the 8 series are awesome indeed, I think it is my favorite handle shape; the Roadhouse is not far behind though. Of course I haven't handle other models besides what I currently have so I could be wrong. Monsters they are for sure.

That is a very nice trio! I forgot to add the 620CF to the mix.

Yep, they all work quite nicely. :)
I'm just glad I got the Super CQC-8 before the price in Canada made a HUGE jump.
Hopefully our dollar will do better by next year so I can get more knives of its magnitude.

That is quite the collection there. Those supers are quite the knife!

Awesome post. Great pictures. Thanks for sharing. You mentioned a sheath, I use a maxpedition sheath for my spyderco military once in a while. That should hold a super.

Nice collection and congrats on getting those 2 Super Bad Boys!

Thanks guys, I really like them, the finish is tripping me out, so nice; the super RH has this very cool G10 and both are very smooth.
Thanks for the tip about the sheath Italian, I'll check those out but honestly I don't think I will be carrying the super 8 much, maybe on special occasions where I need to have reach, if you know what I mean.

Actually the state law is 3 and a half inches here in SD. And 3 in Rapid City as local ordanance. But none of the cops ive asked are even aware of that, including several who good friends.

Point is, i too was once obsessed with legal blade length, which meant most Emersons were out.

But i now realize in this state no one will care unless you are acting a fool, so carry whatever i want.

This state is pretty lax if you aint bein a dumbass. Even the cops will tell you just worry about how you act, instead of what youre carrying.

Yeah you're right; that tells you how concerned I was about it! :). And yeah you're right , behavior is important; some people are just dumb. I never pull my knife out in public unless I need to cut something that needs cutting; I've never needed to defend myself with a knife, I hope I never will.
I've been carrying the super Roadhouse today, btw, and I can barely feel it's in my pocket, I just love this blade. Thanks for the correction.

Love the super desert roadhouse. Guess that's why I bought a backup. Just the feel of the g-10 does it for me.IMHO the super roadhouse is the best balanced super emerson.

You might be right; I haven't owned all the super models, just the Commander and the two above, and the Roadhouse is my favorite, the super commandeer was, or I should say, felt, bigger in my hand; the first time I handled that knife it felt like a sword, that was back in 2012. Now that I have the super 8 I also favor the Roadhouse. BUT, the CQC8 has perfect ergonomics for my hand, the Horseman is the perfect EDC Emerson IMO. Also, I tend to favor the satin finished blades more than the black ones, I don't want to use the two black ones I have since I am really just collecting them, of course one of these days I'm just going to think "to hell with it" and carry and use them both. One thing is for sure, I want more, yeah I know, it is sickening:)

Btw, nice to see another Emerson fan, welcome!

The super commander kind of feels I dunno blade heavy to me. Not in a bad way at all it just doesn't balance like others do.

Not complaining at all, I have both use both and carry both. I used to collect lol. Now I'm a no safe queens type of guy. If I have reservations I keep it in a box for a few days and if I don't use it I move it along.

The only emersons I don't use is a persian. That's because it's purpose when it's carried is not a box opener.

As far as black vs satin IMO nothing looks better than an emerson in black with some wear on it. Now I own satin and black, different models look better to me in different finishes
