I'm looking to pick up a nice, quality Laguiole in a pocketable size. I've heard that Forge de Laguiole makes outstanding blades but I'm not sure where to find them. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I second Cutlery to go. Not the cheapest but they have a great selection and really great service.
Forge de Laguiole are amongst the higher end production laguioles, the ones I have handled have been very well made. I carry a Laguiole as an EDC and find it a great knife for urban/suburban use, the elegant design makes them very sheeple friendly and I find them great all round knives.

I don't know why but lately I just have a need for one...I think that the 9cm model is probably in order. As long as it's under 100$ or so the significant other won't be too pissed ;) Another question is, what the Laguiole En Aubrac? Any experience? They too look very nice. I guess I'm just confused with so many brands.
Thanks all,
Matt

Magnum sells some laguiole knives, pressard ones I believe. They are pretty good qaulity and the prices are reasonable. They have a horn handled one Im interested in myself. :)

I have been wanting to own a laguiole for ages but they always seem to be pretty pricey.

Anybody know of some affordable laguioles being sold anywhere?

Gilles makes probably the best of the worst of this type of knife. They are not made for the American market, and are usually by all standards on the soft side. Tempered 12C27 at RC 54 does not usually blow up anyones dress. They make a beautiful knife, that they say is not made for heavy use, or to cater to the American market. Their spec on Damasteel and carbon Damascus is RC 54.
The steel makers do not find their specs in tolerance for a using knife. My opinion only !

Be well
