Hi Guys,
In the past when I had access to a lathe I made my own threaded tubing to be brazed onto the butt plate on hidden tangs. What "off the shelf" Items do you use?
Thanks

They make coupler nuts that would work. They are a long, 1-2", nut used to couple all-thread. Do you still have a mill or a good drill press with a cross slide table on it? If so what I used to do when I did not have access to a lathe was,

chuck up the material you want to drill and tap in your mill/drill. Touch off the fixed jaw of the vise and tighten the vise. Loosen the chuck and install your drill of choice and drill the hole. then tap as usual. This gets you really close, at least close enough for hidden tangs.

If you don't have one of the above machines the coupler might be your best choice.

Thanks Chuck,
Right now I have no job. The access to all the equipment went with it.
The drill press is a good alternative way of doing it.
Thanks Again
