What, if anything, do you include in writing with sold knives? Brochure, instruction sheet for caring for the knife, certificate of authenticity, etc? Do you pack the knife up in bubble wrap or do you use those padded cases? PResentation boxes? Just curious what everyone else is doing...

from a user/collector perspective, i can tell you what i like to see.

- care & feeding instructions. yes, i may know how to care for my knives. but it's great when giving the knife as a gift, and the recipient may not know how to care for non-stainless steels for example

as an example i bought a little damascus folder from a dealer as a graduation gift for my brother, who isn't a knife person. the dealer included a care sheet and it saved me the trouble of writing one up myself :)

- a little certificate/sheet detailing the materials used to construct knife, the basic specifications, the date created, etc. i think this is especially important for collectors items.

Thanks for the feedback. Duh, I should've asked the gen pop what they like to see, not what knifemakers are doing. Time for a thread in the general forum...

Mine goes out in a Small box with padding. With it will be a Certificate of Authenticity, Care sheet, and my guarantee card. I work for a printer on my day job so its nice to have the ability to print up nice professional Certificates and such. Hope this helps some.

I send a "birth certificate" with each one that gives all the pertinent info about the knife - its serial number, date completed, measurements, materials, etc. The sheet includes my warranty info and some care suggestions. I always include a padded case too.

It's good to hear from collectors, that's the most valuable feedback we can get.
