I'm a fan of Chris Reeve knives but this concept could be applied to any quality knifemaker.
What about setting up a donation fund (PayPal would work) that a knifemaker could draw upon to help defray perhaps 10-20% of the cost of a knife for deployed or deploying soldiers?
A soldier orders a knife . . . if there are $$ in the fund, the knifemaker draws upon them for perhaps 10-20% of the cost of the knife and only charges the soldier the balance?
Any thoughts on practicality, legality or related issues? Is there something like this already set up?
The knifemaker gets his price, the soldier gets a deal and the donors get good karma.
