Sure-Fire Commander?

Whilst I don't have the SureFire 8NX, the G2 is made from the same Nitrolon Polymer.

The styling of the Nitrolon means that whilst it doesn't have a "CombatGrip", It's more easy to hold than the straight-body Aluminium.

The polymer is warmer to the touch than Al which is an advantage if you use it outside in the cold without gloves.

Nitrolon is better at shock absorbing than Al which allows the Lamp Module and flashlight to be better protected against impacts and drops etc. (This was shown to be effective in the SureFire.com forum when 'GhostGroup' cracked a stone tile from a Zen Water Fountain after the G2 when flying.

Nitrolon is lighter than Aluminium which is an advantage when carrying it as it's less noticable in a pocket...

In my experience of the SureFire Classic Series (12PM), the coating of the Aluminium is not that tough and is worn in places. The Nitrolon should be tougher, but maybe not as tough as the Mil. III Anodising of the Millennium Series M2.

If you can get to a dealer, I'd advise comparing the 8NX and 8AX before making your mind up. The Nitrolon 8NX Commander does come with two batteries and a Rapid Charger.

See www.candlepowerforums.com for Commander opinions. A friend of mine has an 8X (the Al one), which I really like for the light output. I have no problem with the polymer construction, and the 2 batts it comes with doesn't hurt.

Hmm, I have the same problem with the lense on my Commander. It's a good thing I did not pay for it (issued to me) but I am certainly going to look into getting the lense replaced.
