My E2 in gunmetal seems to scratch pretty easily :(

I really like the light, though :)

Are the other finishes any more durable?

Thanks, Dan

The HA finish is extremely durable. More durable than gunmetal, from the sounds of it. Opinions differ on which looks nicer -- I think gunmetal looks like cheap chroming, other people think gunmetal looks very classy.

I like the gunmetal; it's differnt than the usual tactical black anodization. Upon inspection of my E2 which I carry in my pocket daily with change and sometimes a couple of Photon lights, it's got some small scratches and dings, especially on the bezel and the edge of the tail cap. I certainly didn't expect it to stay pristine forever. It would probably be more scratched up if I carried it in the pocket with various knives and keys.

While the HA is surely more durable, I don't like the greenish tone. TEHO. No matter what finish, the E2 is a great light.

Have had an E1 and E2 in Gunmetal and both looked kinda crappy after a little bit. I didn't care much how they looked but ended up giving both to friends that liked the gunmetal. I carry the HA (green) E2 everyday and it never shows any signs of use.

Maybe they will come out with a blue HA or red. Would be nice to have something easier to find in the dark or in the woods.

Say what you want about how the HA finish looks, but it definitely is the most wear-resistant finished offered on any flashlight. I have both a GM E1 and a HA E2, and the HA on the E2 has held up considerably better than the GM. I used to prefer the Gun Metal look, but the Hard Anodized has really grown on me.

If the Gun Metal finish is wearing too much with your daily use, then HA is defintely the answer - assuming you don't mind the color.

I have a hard Anodized Olive Drab 6P that I have carried for a couple of years, still in pretty damn good condition. The Black 6P that I carried prior to that is a mess.

Also, this is a real OD Anodized (Army contract overrun) 6P, not the Gray/Green they call OD now.

So, where did you guys score those? Was it an issue item?

That sure would go great with the Green-T slide on my G-19...<G>

Steve

P.S.: John, wanna trade it for a pristine 6Z? I'll throw in a NIB Spyderco Walker LightWeight...

Steve, Thanks for the offer. I have a brand new, still in the shrink wrap, Spare OD 6P set away in the safe, but it would take an M2 to pry it from my hands. Sorry.

However . . . I will email you with the contact info for the guy that bought the last of them from the distributor that handled them. I don't know that he has any more left, but if you don't try, you never know.

I just bought a Surefire E2 from 1SKS a few days ago. I used to have a 6P in black, but i hated the fact that it didn't have a clip, and would go off in my pocket, so i had to lock it out. but if i had to use it quickly, its a pain to screw it first before using it. Thats why I got the E2. I got the green HA because i've heard people say they show no wear. I'm going to wear it clipped to left front I think. Say, does the button set itself off in your pocket, or does the lens get scratched easily when riding in a pocket like this, what do you think?
