Yesterday I got one of Cold Steel's throwing knives in the mail. There's no other way to say it, the quality was disappointing. I get that it's a throwing knife, and it's a really low cost, but still. The drop forging process leaves the bottom side bigger than the top side, sloping outward. Plus the edge grind, what there is to it, was so crude.
So I customized the beast. I started by stripping and sanding the finish off, before hitting it with coarse and fine grit sandpaper overall to give it a rough polishing and smoothing.

I extended the edge bevels to take out the sharp shoulder stop that was there, before giving the edge a cursory sharpening.

I widened the lanyard hole, but had no way of getting a proof picture.
I even filed down the sides to take out the angle of the profile, before beveling the edges to round off the corners.
