I originally got interested in the entire concepts of "EDC" with knives and now I've broadened my scope to other cool things, especially SAKs/Multitools. I now find myself carrying wayyy too many pointy pieces of metal for my own good, I just can't help it! >.< I can't choose between things and I just want to carry all my fun toys with me. If for some reason I ever encounter a police officer - I'd have to wonder what would happen.

I carry 6 sharp edged blades on me... A dedicated knife, Charge TTi with it's PE and serr. blades (and wood saw if you want to count that), Victorinox Rambler on my keychain and the 2 blades on my Victorinox Explorer Plus... And to think, 3 months ago all I used to carry was a phone and wallet O.o

Junk all that stuff and get a Vic SwissTool for your belt, and Vic. Classic for your keychain.

We all go though it, carry what you feel you want. Eventually you will trim it down to what you think is right for you.

Personally I usually have 2 knives and a leatherman on me.

Man I thought I was the only one who was going through that? Im glad to hear Im not. Its bad isnt it? I think I am carrying something different everyday. I cant seem to decided what is best for me to carry. I love SAKs but I also want pliers and I hate alot of weight around my waist, so Im always trying out different things. Right now Im carrying a Leatherman Blast, Spyderco Native, and SAK Bantam. Yesterday it was my Vic champion plus, Kershaw Vapor. The day before it was a Vic Huntsman, kershaw Storm II. Now, I also carry a small flash light and cell phone in a case. With all that stuff around my waist, it just weighs me down but I feel like I need it. Its a sickness that I cant overcome. Im glad Im not the only one. Sorry for your problems buddy, Im in it with you.

I try to limit myself to one multitool and one knife. At my whitecollar-type job, I have an LM Juice Pro in my bag and a small traditional slipjoint in my pocket. The rest of the time I carry a Vic Spirit plus a slipjoint or pocket-sized fixed blade.

no flashlight!

I do the same (with several lights) eventually you find what works best for you, if not, jingle away lumpy :D

I used to fret and worry about the same things. It only gets worse as your collection grows, I can assure you:D

Then I asked my wife to get me a cargo vest for Christmas so that I would have more room for all my "stuff". A Skeletool, a regular vic, a small multi-plier SOG, a Vic Rally, the small Kershaw LFK that my wife got me, a small LED Maglite, a fine stone, an Arkansas hard stone, a zippo, a couple .38 special rounds, my cell phone, and a back up glow stick all fit in the vest.

I keep the folder of the day in my pocket, the Gerber Artifact in my jean's fifth pocket, and my SOG Powerlock on my hip.

I honestly wish that this was a joke:o:D;)

That's a hell of a collection, SG. My general EDC rides in a bag if I'm going somewhere (like, for instance, if I had a job at the moment :(), which generally includes a mini-mag lite, a Charge TTi, a Gerber Artifact, a pair of Channel locks (in case I need a second pair of pliers), a bandana, a little case with nail clippers, a thing of floss, tweezers, a Space Pen, a P-38, and tube of Blistex, another couple pens, a large-ish pad of paper, and whatever my lunch is for the day.

What's actually on my person doesn't really change much: Wallet, phone, keys. My key ring tools change every so often, as does my knife. I just picked up a GEC #25 (slipjoint) that is absolutely wonderful, and I have a Craftsmen 4-way driver, sliver grippers, and a SAK rambler on the key chain. I'm trying to keep it down to one knife, because I'm finding I don't like too much crap in my wallet, and my Pacific Salt has gotten quite a few looks from the public in general. A nice, little slippy should do the job.

If you're religious about carrying (Meaning you're never without what you carry) then that Leatherman TTI will do the chores of everything else you have and then some. I know lot's of guys like Vic knives and stuff... but I've never really been all the impressed with them... especially compared to a robust tool like the leatherman. As you said... it's got two different knife blades... so you don't need another knife. And all the other tools on it can take the place of just about anything else I can think of that you'd need. I don't carry a knife for Self Defense as I think a Knife is a poor choice for such a task. I carry a gun. So my Leatherman Charge XTI, Glock 32, spare mag, Surefire 6P LED, cell phone, and wallet are all you're gonna find on me. And I've never found that combo wanting for something more or lacking. You can leave the little Vic on your keychain as that's handy... just choose one that has none of the same blades as your Leatherman but still have items you think you can use (Toothpick, and tweezers come to mind). And I think you'll have all you need. Other than that... carry what you think is fun and eventually you will get tired of lugging around things you don't need but carry for the heck of it.

While the Swiss Tool is nice... I think the Leatherman TTI or XTI are the superior tools. They have knife blades made of 154CM and S30V... this makes for a useful working knife... Not sure what kind of "Stainlees Steel" Vic uses but the Leatherman seems to be a more robust design with titanium handles. Just MHO.

I own both the Leatherman TTi and the Victorinox SwissTool X (and a Spirit as well). I've used and abused both of them and I can tell you that the SwissTool is way much more robust than the Leatherman. Everything clicks, it feels heavier and their pliers are thicker than the Leatherman Charge. I have even hammered some nails down using the handle of my SwissTool. And they look cooler too, it's a timeless and practical design.

I originally only started carrying a knife. I then expanded and got my Charge. Then I bought an Explorer and Rambler. I bought the Rambler to stick on my keyring so I'd always have a small bottle opener on me (as well as the other small tools) if I decided not to bring my Charge that day. I just recently started carrying my Explorer as well as I had found a nice little way to loop it into my belt loop and suspend it inside my pocket.

My primary concern is the fact that I carry a knife on top of all of these capable bladed multi-tools. If I ever had to resort to using a knife as a weapon (or as a preventive for a serious altercation), I don't think a multitool would have the same effect as a dedicated folder would.

Life has a way of coming at you from unexpected quarters. The only time I ever needed a "preventative for a serious altercation," it was my Leatherman Super Tool that got me out of one.

I honestly believe that self defense turns on mind set.

Well, at least from my point of view, things goes like this: in my country, 90% of the crimes are commited with hand guns or machine guns, so carrying a knife for self defense is almost useless. I've been robbed three times and in all of them I've been pointed with a gun (two guns once) so there was no chance to use a knife or anything else.

In an urban enviroment as I live, I find much more useful a pepper spray than a knife for self defense and I don't really see the point of carrying more than one blade (in my case, a Victorinox Handyman) and one flashlight living in a city. Less is more. A trip to the woods is another story, though.

For whatever its worth to you, on and off duty i always carry a folder clipped to left and right pockets, and shortcut or micra in watch or cargo pocket, a Charge TTi and my gun....

A Swisstool and Leatherman Tti are in different size categories, not really comparable. Their Core model is the Leatherman equivalent. I have used one hard (including hammering) and find it tough enough, equal to the Swisstool, which I had owned, admired, and eventually sold off. Maybe the smaller Spirit compares to the Charge, but as much as I admire its fit and finish, I prefer the Charge for its one hand opening blades, superior PE blade steel, versatile screwdriver bit system, true needle nose pliers, comfortable handles and pocket clip. As for looks, "cool" is in the eye of the beholder.

You're right, the Spirit and Charge are in the same size. But I still see the Charge as lacking of something, maybe fit and finish, and security IMO. I never pinched the palm of my hand using Victorinox pliers, I did though when using my Charge TTi, the back of the blades can be a little dangerous for your hand when doing pressure with the pliers.

You are right about the palm pinching, which can raise nasty blood blisters. After a couple of owies early on, I learned to treat the Tti plier handles with great respect, making sure my hand is properly oriented before squeezing down. No question, the palm pinch is a Charge annoyance not experienced by more Spiritual folk. Even so, I still prefer the Tti, for we Chargers are a hardy breed who laugh at pain, when we notice it at all. :D
