I recently saw an advertisement online that was for a Surefire 6P that was sent back to Surefire and retrofitted for deeper submersion (100 feet I think). Anyone here know what this is all about? I have a Surefire 6P I keep on my Eagle AIII at all times but would like the added protection when I go in the drink.

I've seen photos of a bunch of SF lights on a reef, it had to be 20' down or so. There are water rated versions of lights, and I was thinking that if you send any light to them they'll work on it for a little depth. I would think for a G2/6P etc, you could just turn it on and not use the button cap and be okay for a few feet or so. Past that, there are too many other lights designed for it from people like Princeton Tec, Underwater Kenetics and so on. In fact, you can spend about what you would on a G2 at the PT store and get a light that runs on AAs and is just as bright. .

I've taken an E2e down to the bottom of a full size pool and it worked fine. The light did leak a little, but no problems. It was probably because I used the tailcap under water.

Surefire will factory-enhance some of their models to 33 meters (about 90-100 ft.)--NOT 100 meters.

Those with the 33m water-resistance rating will carry the N-suffix on the model #. As mentioned above, the 33m-rated 6P model is referred to as the 6P-N.

Surefire used to enhance M2's and M3's, but as of about a year or two ago, the only ones available for civilian purchase were 6P-N's.

There you go. That clears it up a bit. 100FT does sound a lot more resonable too.
