I've already got a big 4D Maglite with LED extension, a Brinkmanns lithium battery powered Surefire knockoff, and a Surefire G2 and G3. Want to pick up a used A2 and E2D. Unfortunately, I can't afford both. Help me make the decision. Just looking for a light that can take a beating, for a guy with big paws. Not looking to use as a tactical light etc, this is just for me, Mr John Q Public Citizen.

Both are 2 battery lights too, right ;).

I have an e2e, the e2d's more civilized brother. Same basic light sans the strike bezel and scalloped tail cap. I went with the e2e because I didn't want a tactical light, and I didn't want something that would be viewed as a weapon by Johnny Law. I carry a light as an illumination tool, not a strike implement, not a weapon, etc..

The A2 looks like a nice light, but will definetely cost you way more than an E2. I vote for the former. The A2 does have a lot more illuminating application possibilities however.

I went with the E1L---1 battery---LED for longer battery life---plenty bright for day to day tasks---small enough to slip into my pocket.

i like the L4 better than either one FWIW, for edc imho the L4 is the very best SF around.

of the 2 i would get the A2 i just dont care for the E2D myself (yes i had one wayy too hard on clothes imho)

A2, for sure.
LEDs for small tasks; normal light big tasks.
Voltage regulated so it goes dim much less quickly.

I've got E2e, KL4 and A2 like SIFU1A; like him, I'd go for the KL4 as first choice... out of the two you're looking at - A2.
