Hi guys I'm new here and also new to knives. I want to ask if the SF Alpha folder is a good knife or not. I've been considering numerous models mainly from Benchmade and came across the Surefire. I'm familiar with Surefire flashlights and their high quality, but are they as good with knives? Because at $300 for the Surefire, I could get most of the Benchmade models. I don't mind paying more for extra quality, but I do mind if I'm just paying for a brandname! Thanks and I look forward to your suggestions!

Surefire doesn't make knives. They have had a few products done in collaboration with knife manufacturers that packaged a flashlight with a knife. I know they did one with Emerson a year or so ago. Is it possible the knife in question is the Buck Alpha folder?

it is a very large knife. it is made by Steve Ryan, whose customs command sky-high prices (think > $1000). I think someone has done a review recently - try the search function.

yes surefire makes this, its a alpha, the bravo is soon to come out, its a large heavy duty folder designed by steve ryan, they run $250 @ TAD, pretty cool knife, only con i have found is they have two (2) pocketclips, which make an already thick knife thicker, and when ya remove it it leaves a funky looking "gully" were the clip was attatched, am gonna get one soon probably, was gonna get 1 a few wks back and i got sidetracked on AR15 stuff, a good knife though pricey, i dont think surefire is gonna make many of them, and the bravo is a push dagger kinda thing, w/no were near the utility imho. i like them myself FWIW

The Alpha is a very well designed self defense knife made to excellent standards by Surefire. They're hand assembled by Steve Ryan himself, who also designed them, and are a steal at $250. It is a big folder, it can be used as a non-lethal alternative when not opened, and its got great ergonomics for use in the saber and reverse grips. They were made in limited numbers (around 200 or so), and many makers would have called them mid-techs due to the large degree of hand work in them.

The Bravo is a folding push dagger. Its due out soon and will only be made in very small numbers. Its also hand assembled by Ryan himself!

Surefire has a fine rep for quality, and these knives will not disapoint you in that either.

That's Carmella DeCesare, Playboy Playmate of April 2003. Are you a graduate of Pearl City High School? What year?

"You know, that knife just strikes me as very similar in appearance to an emerson commander"
