i just got a Surefire M2 that i dont plan on using a lot (got the E1e for EDC) if i leave the batteries in my M2 will they loose the charge in them from sitting in there or will they be fine? should i store them in my spare carrier instead? thanks for any help you guys can give me!

Not an expert about batteries, but I read that lithiums have a 10 year shelf life...but if the flashlight is not used regularly you should take the batteries out to prevent leakage.

Maybe better to store in you spare carrier than risk leaky batteries in expensive flashlight

As long as you have your M2 Locked Out, I see no reason why your M2 with batteries can not sit ready. I would suggest you check your long-term kit once a year. You may need to re-lube depending on the storage conditions.

123As have about a 10 year shelf-life we're told. I would review that after 5 years against fresh 123As.

Hi Everyone-

My spares for the car flashlight live in a spares carrier with extra bulb, while the rest of them are in the "cold cuts / luncheon meats" section of my refrigerator. The constant temperature and humidity can't be doing them any harm.

I too store extra batteries "cool" in my refrigerator. When they sit in a flashlight for long periods without being used (like in my jumpkit) I just reverse one of the batteries so there is no chance of accidental activation, but I understand with the surefires, you can lock out the switch, so this can't happen anyway...

thanks for the replies, i think ill leave em in the M2 for a while, then if i dont use it for a realllly long time ill just take em out.:p

Not use an M2 for really long time? tsk... you should be ashamed.
;)

Mind you, I've just had an M3T delivered today...

Where does this all end!
