I've never owned an expensive light.I've used Maglite and EDC a Mini Maglite.I've been trying to do some research lately.A knife dealer friend of mine has an as new in the box SureFire Z2 for $45.Would this make a good light with one of the drop in Cree LED units from Bogg or Lighthound?

I posted a similar question in the survival forums so I am sorry if the other one gets moved and I wind up with two here.

I know!!
I just looked at one!!
Is there any real reason for me to buy this Z2?
Everyone needs at least two quality lights,...am I right?

one to have in the car, one to have on you.... oh you need one more for beside the bed get a surefire m6 lol :):)

The m6 is nice, but if you really want bright (with the same runtime of the m6) check this out... www.blackbearflashlights.com. Uses a standard M@g as a host, and over 1000 lumens. In a pinch, you can even use it to start fires! :D

The Z2 is a good light regardless of whether you put a Cree in it or not. Personally I would pick the first-party P60L direct from Surefire for the added runtime and reliability but that is my preference. I think there is no point getting the absolute brightest when it is too bright to apply to most tasks. You are being offered an excellent price and I would try it out in stock form before getting any "upgrades." I like my G2Z in its stock form just fine. If you are looking for an excellent light to replace your Minimag look no further than the new Cree E2L. At about $100-130 I consider it a bargain in the flashlight world, as you are getting an amazing general purpose light that carries the famous brand name and is as good as it gets. With runtime of over nine hours you won't break the bank feeding it and it is practically bomb-proof. I carry mine always in my jacket pocket. It is also slimmer than the Z2 and only slightly larger than the Minimag so it is a very comfortable size to carry.

Thanks everyone,
I think I'll have to get this Z2. For $45 I would like to try it out.I have been tempted to get one of the Fenix lights and will probably get one later.

Any more $45 Z2's that your dealer has in stock? If so, shoot me his contact info - I would like one.

;)
