I just picked these up from UPS. I gotta say they are both very impressive.
At first I didn't believe all the hype on Surefires. I didn't think that they could be THAT good, so I decided to buy one and see for myself. I chose the D3 Defender because it's powerful yet small enough to make it an EDC. I also bought a P91 lamp. Let me say that the D3 on it's own is pretty good. However, when I put the P91 in and shined it into my own eyes to check it's ability as a disorienting weapon, it worked well and my eyes are still a little screwy. Needless to say, I am now a believer. I'll keep the P90 in the SF Spares Carrier but the P91 will remain in the flashlight.
The Inova X5 is a great little light to have. This is especially true when it comes to dealing with on the road emergencies. Up here in Canada winter is in full effect, that means it's basically dark by around 5:00 PM
. The only problem I have with it is that I'd rather it have a pocket/belt clip. The holster isn't bad, it's simple and it works. I just have a preference for clips.
Both flashlights are well built and feel indestructible.
