Does any one out there own one of these? and what are your thoughts and opinions?

I picked one up on a trade last week. It is a very nice little light, but more of a true EDC / Utility light than a 'tactical' light. I am amazed at the brightness and throw. I really like the bezel down carry clip. It rides comfortably and securely in my pocket. Contrary to some early speculation, the clip will not work on the brim of a ball cap unless you really bend it out. I don't love the interface (can't blink it off and on and stay in high mode, can't start off in low mode) but it functions well and easily provides two very usable levels of light.

i used to really like that size surefire, i still have a E1e body w/a KL4 head, a fenix is brighter, smaller, and best of all cheaper though,

Up until *this* light, I would have 100% agreed with SIFU1A on the Fenix being brighter/smaller/cheaper. The E1B is the first new Surefire in a long time that I think is actually worth the asking price. I had abandoned all of my Surefires except for my Milky custom L1 in favor of my L1T Rebel, L2D Cree, P3D and L0D-CE. The E1B is visibly much brighter than any of them, but still has nice spill ( unlike some of the earlier variants of the L1 that sacrificed spill in favor of throw) and good runtime. It is just as usable up close, but completely dominates all my Fenix lights outdoors. It is far brighter than my Milky L1 also.

In fairness, none of my Fenix have the 'premium' emitters (Q5, Rebel 100/150, etc), so the are doubtless some models out there that are much brighter than mine. Upgrading to the premium emitters does somewhat reduce the price difference between them and the E1B though.

I am not getting rid of all my Fenix lights though. As I type this I have my L1T Rebel, L0D-CE and an E0 in my pockets and the E1B is in my Fatboy. For around-the-office utility lighting on a daily basis, NiMH AA and AAAs are much cheaper than than CR123s. I need to check out a Novatac at some point to compare it to the others ( I do like it's ability to run on 3.7v RCR123s).
