ANyone have one and what do you think of it? I am seriously contimplating getting one and it will be my first major flashlight purchase (not including a Surefire G2 Nitrolon last month). I do IT work for a prison and knife/gun/weapon carry is strictly forbidden, but I figured I should be able to get in with this flashlight no problem. Plus since I do walk among inmates all day it would be good to have a little protection.

Anyway, what do you guys think? Just started getting into Surefire Flashlights at the last knife show.

Well, I think they are pretty nice. I had one on order from surefire with some batteries and a new bulb for my z3. When the package arrived the batteries and bulb were there, but no e2d...i was pretty pissed that they didnt tell me it was on back order, so made them cancel the order and refund my money.
Let me say that wish I hadn't becasue it is a slick little light. I thnik that a surefire purchase is a good purchase, and with you working in a prison, the e2d could be an ideal device to have handy.

It's a great light, get one, and also get a surefire V21 holster for it. That light will tear up the back of your hand if you have it clipped to your pants pocket and you reach for something in that pocket. The SC-3 spares carrier, a spare bulb and some batteries would complete the package.

I just traded away an E2e and it was awesome, although I didn't really like the clip. I think the clip was too short and I couldn't get comfortable with it like I can with knives. The light was NIB, so I didn't try it out more than once just to see how it felt in the pocket. But, the E2d looks pretty slick. Let us know what you think! They have an E2O with a longer clip... anyone know if you cna get one from SF to put on an E2x?

The long and short PocketClips are interchangeable.
I suggest you call SureFire directly to get hold of the PocketClip you're after.

How do you remove the clips? I've tried om my E-2e, with no luck.

EDIT: never mind, I got it.

Icon, the E-2d is a wise choice for your situation.

I carry an E2D everyday in a jacket pocket. I really like the crenellated bezel in case I would ever have to use the light in a defense situation. I liked the crenellated bezel so much that I recently ordered an M4 with the same style bezel. If you're looking for a great little flashlight with strike capabilities look no further.

i carry my E2D daily, agree that the SF hiolster is a must (or some kinda holster anyway) the crenallations are hard on your pocket/car interior/etc.

a GREAT edc light imho. never carry my E1e, E2e, C2/etc anymore now.

To own one is one thing but you must learn and be able to use it when you need to. Not the flashlight bit but the bezel bit. Also you might want to consider what might happen if an aggressive inmate were to get hold of it and use it against you. Food for thought.

Thanks, yeah I fgured so...

My birhday is the 10th next month and I talked to a few peeps so I will prolly be getting it then. Thanks for all the input guys.

Also thanks for the heads up Bimmer. I will more then likely keep it mostly concealed under a shirt or somthing so the inmates wont know I even have it until it's to late.

I think I'd shy away from carrying anything even remotely weapon-like in the general vicinity of people who have nothing better to do than sit around being pissed off all day and thinking of new ways to seriously F people up. Just my 2 cents. I'm a wimp.

I'd check for sure that your employer would let you have it, too. I'd hate like heck to buy something for a particular reason only to be told I couldn't have it. .
