Surefire E2D

The E2D is intended as a hold-out impact weapon. Don't get it if you want to be descrete, keep it on your person or carry-on luggage while flying, or frequent places with "no weapon" postings. Otherwise, it makes a good compliment to a tactical personal arsenal. With its small size though, only consider it as a hold-out weapon. If you do intend to whomp somebody with something hard and heavy, a kubaton or one of those telescoping dealies would be a better first choice (except of course, that these don't light up).

I've also heard that the added metal around the tailcap make activating the light with your thumb difficult.

An alternative idea is the GG&G Tactical Impact Device. You stick it on the light you already have (don't have to spend $100 on the E2D), and no button woes. Made right here in Tucson!

i have a E2D and had a E2e w/a TID on it, and very much prefer the E2D mainly because its so much lighter, also its no prob to turn on/off w/the new bezel, imho the TID just weighs too much for a little E2e, now a Z3 is a diff matter.

I have one also, and I like it very much. Very bright light, no trouble activating the light with your thumb. I sure would hate to be hit by one.

I have my (2nd gen????) E2e-HA, and I think it is more than suitable for a good whack to a bad guy's head.

I have one and I like it a lot. It is very well made, and I prefer it to the TID now. Before the E2D, I carried an E2E with a TID.

My biggest gripe with SF flashlights is the clip position. I still am struggling with how I want to carry it. I don't like the amount of flashlight that sticks out of my pocket when it is clipped in like a knife. I would prefer the clip be located at the tail end so the light would ride bezel down and deeper in my pocket.

A lot of times I just drop my little E1E with KL4 head in my pocket for when I want to carry a light stealthly. If anyone knows any good clip mods to let the light ride deeper, let me know. ;)

John,
I thought the same thing, but I think the bezel would dig into your leg when sitting.
