Surefire E2e vs E2e Outdoorsman?

The E2o has a longer clip than the E2e, and comes with a 25 lumen MN02 LA that runs for 150 min vs 75 minutes at 60 lumens with the E2e's MN03.
I think it comes with a lanyard, too.

It looks like three of the main differences are:

- The outdoorsman has a longer (more useful?) clip
- The outdoorsman has more aggressive checkering on the body
- The outdoorsman comes with the low-power long-runtime lamp, instead of the standard 60 lumen high power lamp

If I were in the market for an E2* these days, I'd most likely buy an E2 Outdoorsman, then pick up the 60 lumen high power lamp. The longer clip on the Outdoorsman probably makes it more useful, and I'd like to have the long-runtime lamp for camping and blackouts anyway.

I picked up an E2o for a friend that came into town for Christmas and carried it for a couple days before I gave it to him.

The checkering was INSANELY aggressive. It chewed on my Levis. When I get one I will have to polish it just a little bit around the sides of the clip.

The long clip is nice, grips well but has a lot of flex. Worked well on jeans, dress paints and clipped to the pocket of a fleece jacket.

The MN02 25 lumen bulb is GREAT! I was very impressed by it. In side by side comparisons with my E1 and E2, it blows the doors off of the E1 hands down, and has roughly the same throw as the E2 out to 40 or 50 yards, but a narrower beam of light. I have since swaped the MN03 in my E2HA for a MN02.

The next Executive I buy will be an E2o Outdoorsman.

Thanks - that's exactly the answer I was looking for. Man, these Surefires are like peanuts - you can't have just one! (I'm itchin' to order my fifth)

I wish the E2O came with both lamps, but Joe's got the right idea - I recommend that people buy the E2O and the MN03 lamp because the pocket clip is better.

How much narrower? I was thinking of trying an MN02, since it seems like a good compromise between the MN03, and KL1.
The thing I like best about the MN03 is that big wide beam of bright usable light it puts out. The runtime has me using the KL1 alot more, though, since it's actually "enough" most of the time, and doesn't eat batteries like candy.

btw, I'm very satisfied with the clip on my E2e-have any of you had problems with yours? Mine was clipped to the pocket of a pair of thin pants through a really rough hike last week, and never budged, but I can see how a longer clip could be better at keeping it from getting pushed up and working its way loose.

don't forget, you can get a regular e2e and put the m2 clip on it, that way you can decide which clip you like better. also you could do that if you wanted the less agressive knurling. i've heard the knurling on the camo e2e is really harsh.

The beam from the MN02 is much closer to an MN03 than an MN01. Hard to even pretend to be precise, but I would say rough guess walking around the backyard/ edge of the woods, the MN02/ E2o beam is 3/5 - 2/3 the diameter of the MN03/E2e beam, and easily 2-2.5x the size of the MN01/E1 beam.

I don't own an E2x light right now, so I can't comment on the short clip personally. I have carried an E2 for several years now and never had a problem. I have three shooting buddies that have E2e's that they carry all the time, and the two skinny little guys have had no problems, but the BIG guy has commented that several times he has found that his E2e has unclipped itself and is down in the bottom of the pocket.

That's good about the beam of the MN02 being closer to the MN03, because I feel the MN01 is nearly useless, and I retired my E1 because of it. The beam is too narrow to be useful. Something 2/3 the size of the MN03 would still be very useful, IMO.

pjenkins: are you sure about the clip being replaceable in the E2e? I thought I'd read that SureFire has gone back to riveting the clip on (i.e., it's no longer replaceable).

The E2e's clip is replaceable. The clip on the E2 has never been AFAIK.

To change the E2e's clip, you take off the bezel and O-ring and then you can just push it out.

Does anyone know if you can get the longer clips on their own to retrofit to an E2E??

I dont like the diddy little on mine at all.

Call up Surefire. Their customer service it great! They may charge you a bit for the clip, but I'm sure you can get what you are looking for.

Some E2s (not E2es) have their clips screwed on and some have them riveted on.
I believe the progression went from rivet -- to screw -- and then back to rivet.

The ones that are screwed on can be removed and replaced just like the E2e.

I was told to ask for an M2 clip when I wanted to upgrade my E2e.
SureFire actually sent me two different clips because I guesss the person taking the order hadn't noted which light I was trying to upgrade.
One clip had the pronged slide-on attachment for the E2e and the other had a simple screw hole for the E2.
