SureFire, the #1 brand of flashlights for LE use, is set to debut their edged weapons division at the Blade Show. Custom knifemkaer Steve Ryan will be heading up this division and will be the chief designer of these knives. A folder is planned for the first model. More info available at the Blade Show, and when I return.

Biogon,

Yes, Steve Ryan, THE STEVE RYAN works for Surefire!!!!. This should be KILLER

Oh, naff.

I never knew that. Always thought it was just a coincidence.

Cool. Heh heh heh.

I wonder what'll happen to the EKI/SF collab then...

Will the Surefire knives have the Surefire logo laser etched on them or will they be collaborations like the Strider & Emerson collaborations?

i was wondering which price range are these knives set in? the under 100 dollar, 100-150, 150-200 or 200 plus range?

I think they'll have a logo that glows with 120 lumens of light:eek: :D

There was a picture of one of these knives in one of the recent issues of Blade - the last one I believe. Couldnt tell but the scales looks like they had the SureFire logo molded into them, and the design was immediately recognizable as a Steve Ryan - and the contact info was S. Ryan C/O SureFire Edged Weapons Div. or something like that.
I'm really looking forward to this - perhaps get some more radical Ryan designs that are above CRKT, but a guy like me can afford (unlike the Knights Armament)

Hi Everyone!

Just got back from Atlanta about an hour ago. What a show!!!!!

Handled 4 of the total of 11 protos that were built....they were at the Surefire booth @ $400 a pop! I passed on what may be the only chance I'll have to get a genuine Ryan..... personally-ground blade at that price point but I felt the quality wasn't up to Steve's usual, at least what little of his work I've been fortunate enough to be able to handle....IMHO. In fairness to Steve, I'm not sure if the protos were totally done by him or only the blades.
I had met and talked to Steve in the pit Fri. night and found him quite open and friendly. We discussed his design inspirations and pricing in the world of customs and how his prices have evolved to their current state. Just one of several memorable instances from my 2nd Blade Show.

I'm really sorry but I was so tired and struggled with the locks, which were sticking badly on all 4 pieces I saw, that I didn't even pay much attention to materials or construction details. I believe the liners were either anodized aluminum or titanium and it seemed that the scales were 2-pieces of black polished G-10 or maybe micarta.....that's 2 scales per side, I think. They were light enough, however it required two hands to release the linerlocks on all 4. I do remember that 3 0f the knives had black coated blades an one appeared bead-blasted with the chisel grinds very prominent due to the visible grind marks....these bright heavy grind marks cheapened the overall appearance of that knife in particular, IMHO.
I'm truly sorry to be of so little concrete help with my report. My meds were accidently left at home so I was trying to force a good mood by that time of day.......I think that was part of the problem; that and the sticky lock issue.

Larry, no worries, thanks for what info you can provide its plenty for me - sorry about your meds, thats rough, I know how it goes. Hope it didnt knock you out too much.

not bad looking at all, the blade shape is nice but is that a bead blasted finish? I think they'd be better off with a satin finish. I love the clip design, not sure how good it actually is though. And what kind of inlay is that?

Is $400 for the protos? What's the prices of the regular production models?

I own surefire lights and I love them. It would be great if they made knives with HA III finish, OD green color handles.
