Anyone use these when they shoot. I've been looking at these and wondering how well they work. Regular foam plugs work well, but I'd like something that is reusable and effective that aren't muffs. They're decently priced and if work as promised seem like a good option.

I wear a pair at band practice (anywhere from 8 to 15+ bagpipers & drums, etc. in an enclosed space) and they work pretty well. At the range, I wear those & usually an additional pair of "ears" over them. (I blew out some of my hearing w/ loud music in bars, etc. many moons ago & want to keep the hearing I have.)

Have been looking at these for years as a alternative to plugs and muffs. I want to be able to hear when the gun is not going bang but also protect my hearing.

I also shoot a loud ported gun that can leave my ears ringing even with ear plugs, do the sonic defenders provide at least as much protection as quality plugs?

I think I'm just going to try these out. For the price, I can afford it if they're not super great. I can always wear muffs over top if need be.

I cant remember if I have the 4's or 6. However with the cap out my .40 p229 is a bit too loud in an indoor arena, without any yahoos shootin anything ridiculous. With the caps in they are about on par with the Leight Max's if fitted propperly. They stay better than the Leights, but arent quite as comfy. (Maybe i have the wrong size, but they wouldnt let me try em on.) Having the cap in also cancels out the ability to hear voices.

If I were still shooting outdoors I think I'd use the SF's exclusively (and capless) for anything short of a .44

Toss a pair of decent ears over them for extra protection. I've shot my old 1911, my G23 (.40) and my KelTec P3AT (.380) with & without the additional ears. Wear the extra ears. The Surefires are nice, but every bit helps.

I got my pair in yesterday. They're comfortable and fit very well. I'm going to be doing extensive shooting from Thursday to Saturday, so I'll have a full report sometime on Sunday. I can definitely say that with the extra plugs in the EP4's, there is significant sound reduction. I'll see for sure this weekend.
