Hi there,

my new G2 OD Green should arrive in a few days. Till now I only heard positive feedback about this flashlight, but it wasn´t that much feedback.
Anyone anything to say about the G2? Would be very glad to hear more good things ;)

Thanks!

I really like Nitrolon.
It's extremely tough, shock absorbing, warm to the touch, secure to grip when wet, electrically non-conductive, resistant to many chemicals, comes in three colours, light-weight compared to Aluminium, lower cost, and this means that Nitrolon G2 and G2Z SureFires can be kept whether light may be needed.

The G2 has a few issues that depending on your requirements, could be a drag:
1) Not water-proof - just water-resistant.
2) No LockOut TailCap (LOTC). The G2Z LOTC does not work on the G2.
3) The G2's Lexan Lens can deform if the P60 or P61 is used constant-on for too long without free-moving air to cool it. (The G2Z Bezel is interchangeable though, but not available in Yellow)

I prefer the G2Z. It has many of the features I consider vital - LOTC being significant.

That said, I have four G2's and three G2Z's. They can take a beating and protect the Lamp Assemblies almost as well as the Shock Isolated SureFires.
I would pick a G2Z over a 6P, C2, D2 or Z2 any day.
However, I will not buy another G2 unless SureFire releases one with a LOTC.

My £0.02

Reading this, I think the G2 is a good and good priced entry to the high potential flashlight world :). It will complete my flashlight assortement (Arc AAA and Inova X5T) for now. Thanks for the input.

@Size15s: You got mail!

crashlander, great minds must think alike.

my flashlights (not counting the maglites i dont use): inova x5t, blue LEDs; arc AAA, white; SF G2, black body.

the G2 is a great light. i would like a LOTC too but since i carry backpocket next to wallet, dont want a hex bezel and clip of the E series. i might end up w/ a g2z one day but dont see too many advantages besides the LOTC for my use.

BTW, my G2 came from botach when on sale for $30.

The G-2 is very nice. I had an incident where mine came into contact with the ground at a very high speed (don't wanna talk about it) and all it suffered was a small scuff in the nitrolon (didn't even break the bulb). Very tough.
