I have had one of these for 4 years and it is a great light.I bought a G2 LED and it has an aluminum bezel.Anyone know why it is not made of the same stuff as the one on the original G2 with the xenon bulb?

Because they were having problems with thermal transfer to the body of the light. If too much heat builds up in the light module it would burn up the LED, though there is a thermal regulator on the P60L module that reduces the power to the LED when it gets hot.

Thanks for the reply Knifenut. So the G2 with the xenon bulb has the aluminum bezel also,I had thought it was put the LED version for some reason and the original still had the nitrolon bezel. Thanks again for the info.

Why not get a LED drop in head?

I mean it is a tiny bit of a boost in Lumens jumping upto 235 but whos counting anyhow :D

The malkoff heads are designed to stop the issue listed above and they squeeze out more light then the standard stock head.

If you read the warning it says Limited use in a plastic light only. Even though the malkoff is a great heat sink by itself it still needs the heat pulled away, something that is not done well by a plastic light. M60 in a G2 can only be ran for short periods (15min) or you risk burning up the module.

I don't think I've ever run my G2 for any longer then 10 minutes max. My G2 is strictly a pocketwarmer and is only needed when I need to find my keys...which FYI isn't the best idea to help a guy who dropped his keys in the passenger seat by flipping it on while he's squinting and has his face a few feet from the floor...
