I just ordered a Surefire G2Z with and combat holster. I've been a longtime Surefire owner (6P, G2, E-1 & E2E), but would love to hear from anyone who has one. The G-2 is my favorite because of it's feel and lightness, but has no lock out tail cap, its only flaw, hence the G2Z.

Opinions?

I'm happy with my E2-HA! I see no need to change!

Well, except I'm getting an E2e-HA instead! :D

2smrt,

I short typed a little. I have an E2E-HA. I like it, but still prefer my G2 or 6P. I guess it's a comfort thing.

That HA sure is tough, though.

I just got a G2Z and I love it! Lighter weight, lockout tailcap, and pyrex lens are all pluses. It's the first light to replace my 6P for belt carry. It's only working so-so with the 6P nylon holster though -- I had to move the larger grip ring out of the way, and it doesn't slide out of the holster as easily as the 6P. I'm waiting for my Incase neoprene holster to see if that's better.

The light is wonderful though. For your reference, my other lights are the M2, M3, M6, and E1.

I've got a G2Z.
It's formed my trio of two cell SureFires - M2, E2e+KL1 & G2Z.

It's great! Takes abuse and was very difficult for me to break.

I suggest you check out CPF ( www.candlepowerforums.com ) or the Strategos International DB (SIDB) http://186thousand.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

For your reference, there are only a few SureFires I don't have.
If you would like me to compare any SureFires, just ask and I will see what I can do.

Respectfully,

Al

Hmmm.. I can't wait to sink my paws on the G2-Z! Been using an Olive Drab G-2 and I'm enjoying every moment of it! :D

I received mine a couple of weeks ago and am hugely impressed, I cant see any reason to get a 2 cell aluminium light.

I had just received an E2 which is now in the present draw to give to my wife at Christmas.

I have ordered and am waiting for a tactical holster, spares carrier and a P61 for it now :)

I finally got it! I love this thing. Definetly replacing the 6P for EDC. Got the V70 holster as well. Not really that practical unless you're going into a gunfight. Wonder what they'll say at the office when I walk in with this thing and the Wave on my belt.

Al-I'm a lurkin' fool over at CPF, as well. You're one of the people that got me hooked on these damn things. All I can say is THANKS!
:-)

can you please post a picture of the C2+KL3 (preferably)or M2+ KL3 next to the E2+KL1...I dont have the M2 or C2 and I am trying to decide if I "need" the C2HA as a platform for the KL3. THANKS

Folks,

The E2E runs for 75 minutes at 60 lumens. The G2Z runs for 60 minutes at 65 lumens. Which do you recommend for EDC? Are there other factors I should consider? E2E is about $10 more, not much over 3 years.

Thanks Alan

EDC: E2e-HA
Nighttime, when you know you'll need a bright light: any of Surefire's larger 2-cell lights (6P, D2, Z2, C2, M2, G2, G2Z)

The larger lights are just too big to be a constant EDC. I carry a 6P when I go to check out the strange sounds in the alley outside my window.

AlphalphaPB,

The 6p G2, G2Z are only 5 lumens brighter than the E2E. Does the five lumens make that much of a difference?

Alan

I've noticed a slight bit of a difference. The hot spot on the 6P is just a tad brighter and larger.

I haven't had the chance to test the "throw" of the two lights, but I'll bet that the 6P can carry a little further.

The size difference between the two lights makes a huge difference though. The E2e is small enough to fit in pockets without a huge bulge. The other 2 cells are pretty fat to me.

However, the bigger lights have an advantage in that they can be extended with the appropriate battery extender, and fitted out with the P90/91's. Or you can just stick a P61 in for 105 lumens. :) Yummy. I'll have to try that out soon.

Price difference: you can get a fully hard-anodized E2e for less money than the fully-anodized C2.

I've carried a 6P on my belt for the past few years in a business casual environment. Only recently has this been replaced by the G2Z as my EDC. It's definitely not a problem.

Here's the first and biggest reason to carry a full size 2 cell light like the 6P and G2Z: the P61 high output lamp assembly.

The G2Z came in very handy Saturday. As I was walking home with my parents at night, some takeout delivery boy flew out of the shadows on his bike and nearly mowed my parents down. In a heartbeat the P61 was shining in his face. For all I knew, he could have been a mugger. The light definitely got his attention and got him nervous.

Unless there are 4 of them.

Unless it's a psycho. :(

Actually, I was walking a bit behind... there's no way he could have seen me, and my parents look like an easy target. That G2Z sure is bright at night. :D

My P61 and V70 turned up yesterday for my G2Z HOORAY

Is the V70 the correct holster for this light?

I aks becasue I have had to take the rubber spacer thing of the handle to get it to fit into the holster bezel up??
