SF is disco'ing my favorite lite the L4, oh well i got two of 'em but imho its odd to me they disco there best all around lite.

i imagine they will come out with a new model similar but with a higher tec LED ie a cree or whatever.

still, i sure like my L4's and use them almost daily, a great lite for sure.

i love my L4. great light. you cant beat it. it is the perfect size and super bright for its size and runtime. it rests next to my BM dejavoo in my right pocket at all times.

I love my U2 but it's a little large to EDC, luckily there are still plenty of L4's out there. For now.

I have a L4 and I liked it alot, but then I started buying fenix. I still like the L4, but I hope they're doing and upgrade.

I have 6P and an E2D but prefer the L-4, by far. I've got one in my Fatboy and a brand new one in the cabinet. I do keep G2s in my cars.

It used to be surefire was the only game in town, so one paid surefire prices. Now there's a lot more choices then there used to be.

yep. haha, do i get a surefire or maglite? hmmm, let me think....

i still think surefire is the best light out. durable as can be, solid construction, great usable output, decent battery life....

maglite? Surefire IS the new maglite.

You get what you pay for.

Not with surefire, not very bright, poor battery life, tail cap issues. Much has changed in the last few years and surefire hasn't kept up.

Actually, with Surefire I am of the opinion that you are paying for quality of constuction and the warranty.

Surefire has been slow on updating their LEDs, but I think this is primarily due to a change in the paradigm that is used in the flashlight business. It is only relatively recent that any companies started updating light emitters as fast as newer generations come out; and note that most of these quick updating companies do not produce a product of equal craftsmanship and/or in equal quantities as Surefire does.

The tailcap issue I find annoying. But then, I don't like the clickies that so many cried and wined to get. The tailcap issue is a nice study in material choice (plastics and lubricants) and operating tolerances, though.
