Surefire KL1 head question

I have a KL1 head on my E1E-HA, but I noticed it looks different from the KL1 head on the Surefire website. I'm guessing mine is an older model? It has ridges instead of the teardrop shaped(?) cutouts. I like the ridges for grip, so I wouldn't get rid of mine, but what are the differences between the two?
 
GB covered it. Personally, I like the looks of the old model much better. However, the newer version is superior in a number of ways.

I fairly sure the new one has shorter runtime.Also I dont think the KL1 uses the TIROS optics jus Inova.
 
Just to be clear the optic on the KL1 has nothing to do with Inova.The TIROS optic is big and would not fit in the KL1 head.
