I haven't seen a lot on the L4 yet, but I gather it's "digitally regulated".

Is that in the head?

Is an E2 + KL4 basically the same as an L4, or do you gain something by buying an L4?

I happen to have a "spare" E2, so I figured I'd just buy a KL4...

Michael,

I have an E2e-HA and was thinking of putting a KL1 on it but now maybe the KL4 looks a more attractive (and more expensive no doubt) option.

Any ideas how much the KL4 costs ? Is it just a case of swapping the MN03 bezel for the KL4 bezel ?

I gather, but not 100% sure, that the only difference between L4 and E2e/KL4 is that the L4 comes complete with a Z57 clickie tailcap switch. Someone will need to confirm this for you though.

I read somewhere that the KL-4 will be in the $90-$100 range. If that's the case you might as well buy the L-4.

3 Surefire distributors in my area told me there will not be a KL4, only the L4.

Have any of you seen a KL4 other than the one shown at the Shot Show?

From what I've read, this is correct. Someone had been selling the KL4 separately, but it was going for around $90 and I think the Z57 is on the high side as well so it turned out to be a little better to just buy the L4 (I've seen the L4 go for lower than $140).

Checkout CandlePower forums. Lots of good references there. Found one for $130 but, with all the returns, they are temporarily out of stock to fix the problems it appears.

According to reports in CPF.com, the Z57 clickie will be phased into the newer E1/E2 series light. For now, if you already have an E2 series light, getting just a KL4 head and Z57 clickie will cost almost as much if not as much as a full L4. The digital regulation is in the head section (KL4) of the L4. The L4's body is really a re-badged E2e with a Z57 clickie.

Greg is correct.

The L4 is SureFire's way to allow two new products (KL4 and Z57) to be released as an operational package at a cost effective price.

I'm sure that in time, both the Z57 Clickie TailCap and KL4 5W LED bezel will be released as accessories.

For now the best way to go is to get an L4.
