surefire LED head replacement vs arclight LS

A very good piece, by all accounts. It's regulated, like the Arc LS is. Slightly brighter than the Arc LS (with concurrent shorter run time). The KL[1,3] are very sound.

I have the E1e, E2, and M2, so I eventually picked up both the KL-1 and KL-3.

I'm very happy with them both. The KL-3 rocks, and having the KL-1 for both of my E-series lights adds alot of versatility to my EDC.

Based on comparisons with a friend's Arclight, the KL-1 is a bit brighter on the E2, and just a touch dimmer with the E1e. The E2 will give a great runtime, though, at the expense of a bit of compactness.

Both the Arclight and KL bezels I compared have great beam quality and similar slightly bluish casts, which I much prefer over my converted MagLight, which has a LS giving a light yellow-ish green color beam.

I've been trying to decide the same thing. I'm leaning toward the ARC -- it's an additional $50 over the KL1 but you have two lights rather than one...

And the Arc LS can be had in configurations that make it much smaller than the E1+KL1. The Arc LS with the standard 123A twist pack fits easily in the watch pocket of your jeans (I think those twist packs are on closeout, be sure to get one if you want minimum size). And the Arc LS with the clicky switch is still smaller than the E1+KL1. Plus, since my LED lights are not "tactical", I like Arc's clicky switch better than the E1's momentary-on.

The KLs win for consistency.
Despite the hype and promises Arc is still putting out lights that vary from blue/white to pee-green.
The KLs have a little variation but nowhere near as much as the Arcs.
And for those that are E1/E2 challenged, the KL1 will fit on a Scorpion.

The LS2 has been renamed to the LSH and IS available.

The LS3 has not yet been released and has been delayed because of supply (not QC) problems.

One thing I have learned this week, The E2E with the KL1 head is brighter than a Inova X-5, is it 80-100 bucks brighter? nope. The E2E with the standard head kicks butt of anything I have compared it to, a Scorpian ect. but like the Scorpian it gets about an hour run time on a set of batteries the KL1 helps this out allot and still is bright enough but again a Inova at less that 40 bucks compared to the E2E with a KL1 head for around 120 bucks?? I'd stick with the Inova.

Not only that, but the Inova, even if it's dim relative to the other lights is tough as hell, looks like an alien light and lasts a LONG! time. It is big relative to the LSH. Also, one Luxeon Star LED SHOULD be blowing the hell out of the 5 Nichias like the Inova uses.
