SureFire M2 confusion

Yesterday I took advantage of Botach's end of summer sale and saved an additional 15% on a new SureFire M2. No problems whatsoever placing the order with Botach, and due to my close geographic proximity, the 3 Day Select UPS shipping turned into overnight service. Sounds pretty good so far, right?

Well, now I'm not so sure. I was under the impression that the new M2s featured an improved "shock isolated" lamp head assembly complete with the "cooling fins" that I've seen pictured here in the past. Mine, however, (serial # A01128) came with a smooth cylindrical head. Did I get the older model, and if so, do I have any recourse to get the latest and greatest model? Will SureFire help me out? Even the picture on the front of the box shows the newer "finned" model.

FWIW, Botach's Website also pictures the newer model.

Yep, that's definitely the old version. If the picture shows the new, finned version on the box, you probably got a transitional piece (not enough new boxes/too many older lights). FWIW, I have the opposite- I kept an M2 for a demo unit/sample (SN A02206) that came in the old gray/black box with no picture but was the new light. Go figure.

You can contact SF about seeing if they will replace the bezel for you- you never know. If they won't, your other recourse is to purchase the part (now available separately as part # 13586). The SRP is $24 IIRC. It's worth getting the new part.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info, Tim. I especially appreciate the part number for the updated part.:)
