Hey,guys Dean here, sorry if this question has been asked before, but I want to get my dad a E1 or E2 for christmas,I like the small size of the E1, he would be more likly to have it on him all the time, and the fact that only there's one battery to replace.but how is the output?do you guy's that carry them find them practical?or should I just go with the E2?Thanks,
Dean:cool:

I've got an E1 in my travel bag, G2 in my truck glovebox, Brinkmann LX in my junk drawer, and an E2 on the way.

I always have my Photon II on my keychain and I use it fairly often. I'm buying the E2 to toss in my coat, but I can't see ever carrying it on my person. MAYBE an E1...maybe. Still kinda big.

I did have a MAG micro (1-AAA) light before the photon. It didn't seem to big at the time, but it seems HUGE now. I wouldn't go any bigger than one of those.

The E1 has enough output for most uses but I prefer the E2 because I find it easier to handle. The E1 is just too small sometimes, not in term of light, just size. That said, if carrying in pants pocket the E1 is easier to keep with you with out becoming a pita.

I love the E1. Clip it to my belt and forget its there until i need it. Even in a suit its so small its not a problem to carry.

I carry the E1 EVERYDAY and EVERYWHERE! It is one of THE most impressive tools that I have sen. Now, as someone said earlier, it is somewhat on the small size if you have small hands (fortunately I have small hands -- NO COMMENTS! :p ) but I could see where it could be a problem for the big handed crowd. I take it everywhere like I do my Sebbie...

If you have one of those knivesthat just blows you away (like my Sebbie) this flashlight is it's equivilant in the flashlight world. The light output (w/o being technical) is dang bright. I carry for those times working on a machine, chekcing out a dark corner or when the lights go out. I believe it is bright enough to use for "tactical" situations as well.

just my $.02 worth. BTW - I have an E-2 on the Christmas list! ;)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I love the E1. Superb quality beam, nice tight beam. I have big hands and when I hold the E1 in my closed fist, you can't see it, so people wonder where the light is coming from.
I carry the E1 practically all the time. It's used mostly when the P61 in my M2 is too much. My M2 is clipped to my belt - I wear a suit so it's usually hidden. The E1 can be put in a trouser pocket or jacket pocket. It's compact as well as thin and light.

The E2 is the kinda flashlight you can clip to your belt or pocket and not worry about it being seen. It's a fantastic light, tiny for the amazing quality output, and so I carry it a lot too.

Usually I have the E1, a PhotonII and either the E2 or M2 on me.

Dean,
Which would I suggest you get for your Dad?
The E1-HA.

Get yourself an E2!!

Al :D

Hey Guy's Dean here just wanted to thank you all for the advice I just ordered a just ordered a E-1 from 1sks,in gun metal blue,so it will match his alamite navigater!!will let you how he likes it.Take it easy Guys and thanks again,
Dean

P.S.Size 15,going to take your advice and pick up a E2...Hey!!I deserve it,right!! LOL :D

Good choice. I used to keep the Mag Solitare on the nightstand, but it I kept knocking the thing over, or it would roll off.

Now I keep the E1 there, and the height/weight ratio keeps it standing upright and ready to go. I have an ASP Sapphire, but I prefer the back-button on the E1 to the pinch-button on the Sapphire.

E2 is more like a regular flashlight rather than a "personal" light, I think.

I gave my E1 away as a gift. The increased output and better fit for my large hands put the E2 way over the top. Non-knut folks tend to be way impressed with the E1 though.

Both are awfully cool lights though...
