Although it is very difficult to give a set in stone answer because SureFires are mainly used momentarily, from experience with a variety of lamps, you'll get about 20-40 hours out of a lamp.
I've found that lamps do not degrade as fast if you follow a few suggestions:
1)Do not use the batteries right until the last.
- Replace batteries when the light looses it's brilliance (starts to yellow)
2)Try to use SureFires in short-bursts and flashes rather then constant-on.
3)Avoid touching the bulb, exposing it to moisture or dirt.
I keep bulbs in the flashlights, the Spares Carriers, or sealed in their packaging from SureFire.
4)Avoid subjecting the flashlights to abuse, shocks (physical/temperature/pressure)
Most importantly, the best way to prolong bulb life is to;
a)Buy a spare.
b)Keep it as close to the flashlight as possible at all times.
c)Never lend the flashlight to anyone - especially females or children.
