I am looking to pick up a Christmas/Birthday present for myself of a SureFire, I just need to figure out what one to get. I am considering either an M2, 8AX, E2+E1, or E2 + some lens covers. I am thinking daily carry for this, so the 8AX is probably out for now, but it's the brightest of the bunch and is rechargable, which seems to be like a good idea for these little beasts. As I said, this will be a daily carry light, so I suppose size is a bit of a factor, but I can do belt carry or in a jacket/cargo pocket, so I'm not that concerned about it.
Use will be mainly in the woods at night, as well as dimly lit parking lots and checking things around the house of an evening.

Thanks for any info,
Tique

E1 has my vote for an EDC. I actually have both E1 and E2. The E1 seems to have just enough light for fumbling with keys, looking for the newspaper, etc.

If you can wait until January, I would do that and then get the E1e and the E2e. They both offer lockout tailcaps, waterproofness, a imporoved pocket clip, a pyrex lens, and a anti-roll bezel.

I think the E2(e) is the perfect EDC carry light, unless you favor the smaller size of the E1(e). If I was you I would at the very least forget the lens covers and either: wait and get the E1e and E2e, or buy the E1 and E2 if you need it now. You will be glad to have the E1 instead of the lens covers for the Executive series. Another light is better than accessories for a current light IMO.

I really like my M2. It is an awsome light. It is too big for EDC pocket carry but works fine on my belt or in a coat pocket.

It costs more then the E series but if you need a tough light, ability to use higher power bulbs, waterproofness then you should get an M2. But if you want an EDC pocket carry the E2 or E2e will be fine. I will get the E2e myself when they come out.
