when the surefire descriptions say stuff like, "120 lumens for 20 minutes" does this mean the batteries die after 20 minutes, or the bulbs?

how long do bulbs usually last? not the LEDs. and when you replace them, do you replace the bulbs or the whole lamp assembly?

also, on the nitralon lights, are the cases full plastic, or is it like plastic over a metal tube?

20 minutes is the battery life.

I don't know how long the bulb life is. With my SL Scorp, it's well over 5 hours now with no problem.

As for replacement, it depends on the light. Most of them, you replace the whole assembly, reflector and spring (P series). Some of them, you replace the bulb, housing, and spring (MN series). With the SL Scorpion, you replace only the bulb.

The Nitralon cases are full plastic, no metal liner.

I have a Surefire G2 Nitrolon in Olive Drab. Mine has a metal liner inside the body where the batteries go. Very nice light for the money. :)

I got the impression that the lamp lifespan was about 25 hours. I have over 50 hours from my A2 bulb. I've never had a SureFire bulb die of old age before 25 hours. I've used plenty of the 60 or so SureFire I have for over clear over 25 hours each. The E2e, M2 (with P61 lamp) and the N2 and MN16 lamps in the M3T, the N62 lamp in the 12PM/M4, the MN20 and MN21 lamps in the M6. The 8NX I have has seen a lot of use. Also the G2Z with P61.

I mostly use LED SureFires now-a-days. The L4 and X200A are my main use flashlights.

Hey Guys...

Do yuorself a favor and grab a KL1 or whatever LED assembly you need for your particular light...

The bright clean light of the regular buld assemby is nice,, but they SUCK when they burn out...

With an LED assemby, you don't have to worry about burn out for a very long time...

As for the battery life... You get use to that.. Just find a place that you can buy them cheap and keep them in stock....

Once you've made the move from those $hit Maglights to Surefire you'll toss that piece of Crap in the garbage where it belongs, and you'll have a Real torch...

I think I've got 11 or so Surefires now,, and wouldn't hestiate to buy another.

E2e/KL1
E1e X 3
L4
A2
G2 X 2
6P
Z2
X10

and a couple more on the To buy list.

You can't go wrong once you get over the sticker shock.
