Surefire spare bulb / batts carry?

Hey guys,
I'm trying to find a good method of carrying at least two extra cr123a batteries and one spare bulb for a Surefire E2e, but I'm coming up dry. I know about the spherical carrier that Surefire makes, but I want something that will go on my belt (flat) and not flail around. The other stipulation is that it be hard to keep the bulb safe. I checked out different spare magazine holsters but I couldn't find any single ones that were of an appropriate size.

Instead of relying on different pockets my pants have, I was considering going the route of Tactical Tailor, Blackhawk, etc who sell carriers for different items (dump bags, holsters, gas mask pouches...). That way I could get something to hold my folder, flashlight, and spare bulb/batteries.

Any ideas?

Hi Teknical,

Why not give Eric Noeldchen a try, perhaps he could come up with a creation in Kydex?
You could make some drawings yourself and think it over so there's a basis for Eric to start with.
Otherwise he should be able to make a simple correctly shaped Kydex insert for a small Cordura pouch that could hold the lamp + batteries.

It' just a thought, best Scouting wishes from Holland,

I would think the best spare battery and bulb holder would be a second flashlight of the same make and model, or even different models. I own no fewer than 4 Surefire flashlights and 2 of their Weaponlights. All but the M3 and Commander share bulbs, and all but the Commander share batteries. I do have one of Surefire's pods for carrying spares, but I don't wear it. I have seen a nylon carier which holds the batteries, but do not recall the source. I am sure any of the guys who work with custom kydex and concealex could make what you need, and several are members of this forum.

A pair of batteries will fit right into the plastic Advantix-style film canisters. Snug fit, not sure about waterproof though.

Don't have an answer for the bulb, sorry.

You may want to give one of those nylon/ cordura beeper belt carriers a try. They seem to be sized right and is not too conspicuous to carry. But you probably need to wrap the bulb in a thin layer of packing foam to help minimze any potential damage.

Thanks for the replies. I did check out the .22 pouch, but it seemed a bit big for this application (at the time). In retrospect, the .22 pouch might work. The spare bulb came inside a 35mm film canister and if I used that for protection, it could fit along w/ 4 or more batteries. The pockits also look interesting, something I'll look into.

Custom Kydex could work very well, but for now I think I'll try to save money over a solution like that.

Thanks also for the tip about the advantix film canister, but I'm not too concerned about damaging the batteries. While it may protect them, it still doesn't get them on my belt.

Rex, about using other surefires, sure it could work, but for another $70 I bet I could get something done custom that would have an even larger capacity.

For now, I'll go back and check out the .22 pouch, and see if I can find a Pockit in the area.
