After just purchasing an M2 from Botach while on sale (which I love), I was thinking about the V70 Holster for quick release of the M2 while on the belt.

Anyone have a V70 holster? Anyone use it with the M2? Surefire claims it fits the M2, but I am still waiting for their response on whether it fits the M2 with the pocket clip.

Any opinions on this holster would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Bucky

Sorry I don't have the holster, but was wondering about the M2. I have a streamlight scorpion and was wondering if the M2 was comparable lightwise.

Sorry for the delay. To be honest I do not know first hand because I do not have a Scorpion - although I hope too soon. I will have to refer you to Brock's website for any information on how the lights compare. http://www.uwgb.edu/nevermab/flash.htm If I remember correctly, Brock says that the Scorpion is relatively comparable to the M2/D2/6P when they have the P60 (standard) bulb assemblies in them, but are not nearly as bright when the Surefires employ the P61 (hi-output) lamp. I love my M2 and recommend it to all. I do want a Scorpion badly though. At around 1/4 the price of my M2, I will have to get one.

By the way, how do you like your Scorpion? Does it focus much in the same way that Mags, Mini-mags focus?

Thanks, Bucky

Hi, the P60 lamp is a bit brighter than the Scorpion, but not by much. The P60 lamp and the scorpion lamp have the same output, but the surefire is focused a bit tighter. With the P61 lamp the Surefires are clearly brighter however.

My wife took my scorpion, she like the ability to change the focus from a wide flood to almost as tight as the Surefire beams. It is also about 2/3 the weight of the surefires. You do adjust the focus by turning the head on the scorpion, but the beam of light is much, much smoother than the mag. I like them both.

Hey Bucky-

The V70 holster is, in my opinion, a piece of crap.

It is noisy (uses metal springs to hold the light), overly bulky, and very plasticy.

I got one when I won my 6Z in a contest from Surefire and never use it.

Your better off with a custom kydex holster like one from www.tacticaltools.com . I use their vertical carry holder (combat bezel down) alot and recommend it highly.

The only thing I like about the Scorpion compared to a Surefire (6P) is the rubber grip sleeve. I wish I could get one for my 6P, along with a protective rubber cap for the bezel (I don't care for the beam shaper thing, but it is a possibility). It would keep the light scratch free and quiet.

Hope this helps

I am a new owner of the V70, had it for a week and like it. Has a handy belt size adjuster to fit ur belt snug. It hold the light in there good so it wont fall out if in a struggle. Only thing i dont like is unless your light has a smooth bezel (ex;not hex) you cant put light lens down. It is not bulky to wear.
however once in a while i wish id bought the nylon holder from surefire.
Spec Ops brand make a really nice vertical-horizontal sheath. check it out before you decide.

I used to wear the V70 holster on my duty belt but chanced to a cordura one because it broke down very fast. It is a little bulky, and very noisy when u draw the lamp. Also it doesn't protect the lamphead so it's gets scratched fairly easy. It also rather quickly worn down. The plastic got worn away and the metal clip came loose. I never used it "lamp down" , because the lamp came to high an my duty belt. I would go for a closed holster.
