Surefires fitting MP5 handguard

I tinker around with airsoft, and I have a replica of a Surefire MP5 handguard (WAY cheaper than the real thing! 10 times, to be exact).

I've seen it takes a 6P, but does anyone know if a G2 would fit in that same space? Are these two lights the same, even down to the tail cap thingy? I know the "barrel" diameters are the same, but I'm not quite sure about the internals.

Could anybody with both of these verify? Thanks in advance.

Actually it doesn't take the 6P. It requires a dedicated housing with light attachment - the model 628. There are a remarkable variety of versions of this model.

SureFire is coming out with a picatinny forearm as well for the MP5 that will accept the M900 vertical foregrip, as well as lasers & whatnot. Pretty cool, but I don't think you want to spend a couple hundred on an airsoft.

Ah, thanks. I guess the real version differs from the replica, which takes 6P/3P. Cheaper :)

A rail is a valid option too, but I've already gotten the handguard.

I originally wanted to get a flashlight that will occasionally go in the handguard, and mostly be an EDC (in my pocket). But after a bit of reading at candlepowerforums.com, I think I'm hooked. Now I'll have to get a 6P/G2, E2e, *and* an Arc AAA. Yikes.
