Today was one of the glorious days here on the Oregon Coast. One that you can't wait for. The sun was out, not a rain cloud was in sight, and a nice breeze was wofting in off the Pacific. It was pure heaven. So, as one not to waste good thing, I grabbed my Fatty (and a friend's Sony), and headed south along Cape Arago Highway for some fun outdoors. Enjoy.
My first stop was at the South Jetty; this is the point where the Coos River dumps into the Pacific. Since the whole area was crawling with tourists from out of state, I decided to head further south in search of, as Troy would say, "Trees and Quiet."
These pics (below) were taken at the lookout at the very end of Cape Arago Highway. This was along one of the many narrow "goat paths" that weave there way around the edge of the cape. You are looking north.
This is looking in south. The edge of the cliff is only inches beyond the knife.
This shot (to the south) is a few hundred yards to the left of the shot above. Whiskey Run Beach is at the very top of this pic, with Bandon Dunes golf course just beyond.
The right portion of the pic above. My Fatty can be seen here sampling the local vegetation.
Heading back north, I saw this rotten stub of a tree clinging to the side of the hill, so I stopped and fed it some INFI..
This was taken a little further north at a tiny overlook where you could get a glimpse at Cape Arago Lighthouse.
As I was snapping away, a hawk or vulture of some kind, rose right off the ocean below and flew over to see what I was up to. I wonder if the sight of that Fatty scared it away?
