Basically I have an upcoming batch that I'm trying to gauge costs for, and considering whether now is a good time for me to get a Reeder SGA.

I will have 24 of the below knife (about 6" oal) that I need to take from .150" to .130" in an annealed condition.

What belts would be recommended and how many can I expect to go through? After heat treat I would finish them out to .125" with a nicer finish like with a Trizact or something.

60, 120, 320 grit. ~$1.00 per knife.

Thanks for chiming in Hoss! Was thinking no one would hehe.

So on the 60 grit belts, you can get more than 1 blade done with it generally?

Yeah, you’re only grinding .010 per side on annealed steel, easy peasy.

i think if you use 3M 984f cubitron belts in the 60 and 120 grit one belt will do all of them and another batch (and more). pops knife supply sells them.

Cool thanks John, yeah I use the 984f a lot so have plenty. That's comforting to hear!
