Surface grinder rental

Hi Gang,

I need to do some more S30V blades. But I don't really want to pay for precision ground stuff. Is there anyone out there that would like to get paid for some surface grinding time?

The cheapest S30V is from Admiral, but it's sheared - so it has the raised edged. I'd like it flat without the 'bark'.

I looking to do 12' of 3/32 by 1.5".

Interesting idea. I might suggest whoever takes you up on this job though to do it through pm/email, as good chance they'll get inundated with requests, and not have time for actually making knives while they grind all this steel for others.

Say that because Sando's idea here really interests me. :) If it works out to cheaper than PG,t hat is.
 
steve I'd like to help you out but 12 feet is more than I can
mess with right now time wise.

when do you need it done?
what is it at right now 3/16" =.1875 + ?
and how close do you want it?

Actually I was going to buy 3/32" and I just need enough grinding to square it up. In other words, I don't need precision ground for folders or something. Just a 'clean up' job.

Time? about a month.

I'll email you, etp777 is right, it could turn into a business real fast!

Something that might help the guy that does it...cut it to the lengths you need and knock the burrs off both sides. Make sure it's straight. If it doesn't lay flat on the magnetic chuck it will drive the guy crazy, especially with S30V.

Steve, I'll bet Nick W. would be more than happy to do it. He loves grinding anything. You know how kids are.
