Surface Grinder Wheel Adapter Question

I picked up a B&S #2 surface grinder in 1980. Used it many time since, but never actually knew correct protocols. I’ve spent hours at a crack grinding, with no mishaps. The wheel adapter(sleeve) is worn and I’d like to replace it, as I am now in the position of devoting time to learn to use the machine. The grinding wheel, when facing the machine for use, runs clockwise, the dust deflector is on the left, and the sparks fly left off the chuck. Looks pretty dang clockwise to me. With clockwise rotation, I’ve been told that I need a lefthand thread wheel nut. I’ve also been told that with a clockwise rotation, a right hand nut is a hazard. Well, unbeknownst to me, The wheel adapter I’ve been using since 1980 IS right hand thread. So, the questions on the table are, which adapter do I need, and also, did I just get “lucky” without any issues if this one is wrong? Or, am I just farking missing something here? Kinda scared shitless at this point. Thanky, Mike
