Surge is a great fishing tool

Been using a Leatherman Surge for fishing, it works great. The diamond file is a fantastic hook sharpener. I filed the eyeglass screwdriver to a point and it punches the paint out of jig eyes real well. Of course the pliers remove hooks. I still carry a mora clipper attached to a pocket just because its handy but could get by just fine with nothing but the surge.

Been catching quite a few bullheads and they swallow my expensive octopus hooks. So with the multi tool I take cheap gold hooks and bend them to the octopus shape.

I lost a leatherman super tool in the water. Used it for years and one day "oops" there went my $70 tool. I now carry floating pliers for hook removal and I keep hook sharpener and eye punch and the like in with tackle. They are some sort of plastic with metal jaws. Work great. I just can't risk losing a $50 - $70 dollar tool again
