No, I'm not posting links to live auctions! :p

I was interested in getting a feel for what my Buck 560 w/BG-42 was worth, so I checked eBay completed auctions for 560's...

...There were only three...One sold for $85, one for $56, and one listing ended early due to "The seller ended this listing early because of an error in the listing"...

I am [borderline] shocked at how cheap these went for... :(

At prices like these, it's not worth selling a 560...Conversely, those wishing to buy one are in luck...they're going for what a 110 costs at some outlets...

I am really bummed that 560's are not holding their price (much less appreciating)...

Prices for all knives on eBay are seriously depressed right now. Just because they're going for a song today doesn't mean that will be the case once the economy picks back up again. Just be patient.

And yes, you're right, for those who can afford it, this is an excellent time to be buying.

Doesn't price/value kind of depend on the variety of the 560?

Interesting viewpoint...I have no idea...To me, all 560's are equal...a 186 would be worth more, but not just a change in the edging, or the color...

But that's just one person's opinion...another $.02 for DarrylS... :D

...:D...

Trax,,,with a good write up, they should bring more. The older thicker ones with the vertical hole walls should also bring more. Yours with a bg42 blade and if it is an older thicker one, it should do a lot better.

What I was interested in was a sale price for an insurance estimate. I like to back up my claims with actual sales. I've had claims rejected in the past because of lack of proof of value. (I've also had the IRS reject a deduction for stolen tools because my name did not appear on the police report; only the auto transmission shop I worked for)... :grumpy:

when buck was selling them out
they could not give them away at 35$
the store sold then for less for a LONG time

i watch the 560 related prices very closely..
the Christal ones seem to bring good prices ..
the stright sided ones also seem to do well..
suprisingly the last ones with 110 blades do very well generly!
FWIW
my s30v 560 did s----y..
what i am seeing is that
any with box and paper do Verrrry well when first listed after a dry spell...
the next few listed after the one sells for a bunch do real good
then bang it tanks.. that is when i try to pick up some reasonable

i know what larry prices them NIB with paper for and it is not bad and
i was surprised at how many he had for sale..
i also know what one with user mods was priced at..

economy is real fickle right now
what i see is Dayumm Good knives are showing up for sale that you
do not see a lot of and those have a high reserve
some sell many dont
it is like every one is fishing for a high price..
any thing that shows up often has tanked..

what it amounts is folks are buying not what they need for a collection ..
they are only buying what they LIKE any ways!!
i know some that as far as number made are common
but lot of folks like them so they are high!!
i Hate selling right now but like others i have needs also..
yes ebay is a insurance data point..

One of the loves of my life are my 112's...They would be the last personal items I would sell if I had 'cash flow' trouble.....Nice Bucks sell fast priced low...But like anything there will be ups and a LOT of downs in a bad depression for collector items..Remember tho hemi cuda's and chargers once were sold cheep in the 70's cause gas went up to a buck or so a gallon....

Pardon my lack of nowledge but is the 560 the metal/crystal that looks
like a finger groove 110? If so I thought Ive seen a few of them go for $125
or more. I like the looks of them but that goes out of my Buck budget at this time:(

Some are. Some have a brushed finish. Might even be some polished ones. ;)

They're Titanium. The scales/liners are anyway (scales + liner = one piece on 560). Blades are 420HC...mostly... :D

I would look at prices for Buckbenzas (560's with BG42 blades) by searching for "560" here in the Bladeforums Exchange section.

Good luck in your quest! They're cheap right now, if you can find them! ;)

I'm still looking for an eBay completed sale page for over $200... :)
