Many have seen this knife... I think more have owned it ;)

BATAC LE #794. The slabs had shifted and left the sort of sharp edge of the spine exposed that made the knife a little uncomfortable without gloves on.

So back to Ohio it went, I was planing on emailing Garth next month to check on progress/eta, when look what the mailman left (not noticing the signature conformation sticker) in my mailbox today.

Looks like they put it on a diet as well! :D

I lost most of my knife photos when my last laptop died, so here's one of norcalblacktail's photos of #794 from a couple years ago, sporting a Banned convex edge. Thanks norcal!

Fantastic looking knife. One of my all time favorite Busse's. I love the way the handles look smoothed out.

Nice. The first time I held a tac badger, I was surprised how much I loved it.

Beautiful!
I had to do my own, but it is sadly long gone.

I know the knives in these two pic's are at different angles, but has anyone else noticed that some Busse's lately have a more 'stab friendly' grind?

Almost tanto-esque rather than a fat radiused transition from the straight section of the edge to the point (think GW), this knife and in particular one of my SAR3's both seem to have a much pointier point.

Oh yeah, forgot in my first post:

Thanks Garth!!!

UDV,
That is one great looking knife. I have a CG BATAC. I figure once I wear the coating down some, I will send it to the CS so they can work their magic on it.

I just bought #711 from Shaving Sharp. Do you think that it is worth while to get a convex edge put on? I am no expert on edges but the stock edge looks like a V ground edge. The knife has a great feel to it. Does CS reference the Busse custom shop?

Hi 7.62 welcome to the forum!

Yes, the "CS' is in reference to the Busse Custom Shop.

This is my only LE BATAC, and I received it with a convexed or "Banned" edge by forum member Ban (pictured in my first post), so I can't compare to the original edge.

The convex edge on mine was really nice, super sharp and the rounded transition made it slice awesome for how wide it was. I prefer convex edges in general and they're relatively easy to keep sharp with some practice....

Now this BATAC is like a whole new knife, the reduction in thickness behind the edge makes it a super slicer while keeping the spine at original thickness for overall strength and adding a pointer point.

If I had a stock LE BATAC I would use it! and maybe convex it myself slowly by hand as it needed sharpening or all at once if I had time.

It takes a lot of patience to send a knife out for work, but with some research it can be worth it!

Really pretty rig there USD Viking.

That looks like the perfect all-around knife!

They really tricked it out.

SUH-WEET!

Shane

Thanks upsidedownviking for the nice post. I am new to Busse knives. Gotta be careful so that I don't wind up broke like a lot of other fans!
