Got home this afternoon to find a package from Brian Fixall Fixall in my front porch. I won a draw he had at the OKCA show. He texted to say he was sending me something, but, I had forgotten all about it. Opened the package to find a small fixed blade from Hess Knives, Gladstone Michigan, and a Case barlow with pocketworn grey handles. A very generous prize from Brian. Both knives will see use.

I’m glad they made it in, and that you like them, Dan!

The original plan was a GEC #13 in cocobolo…. But rosewood and the border just don’t mix. 😂

Those Hess Knives are real gems in my opinion! Blades made by GEC, and then the knives finished by Andy Hess (his father, Don previously ran the business).

The Case Barlow is in carbon steel. I have a habit of picking up nearly every Case knife in CV or carbon steel that catches my eye. I like to use them to practice recovering knives. :)

A generous man, Brian sent me a package some time ago!! And I've heard of others!! Nice to meet you, at Oregon, Brian!!
Hope your business is doing well!!

It was great meeting you too, Charlie! It was great to finally put some faces to forum names. I can’t wait for Blade Show next month to put more faces to names. :)

Business is doing great! I just recently expanded to carrying TeroTuf and modern Micarta/composites on top of the wood, and vintage Micarta/phenolics. 😀

Next week I’ll be adding a dozen colors of Richlite to the website…. And then next up is an expansion into G10 and carbon fibers! 😍

Congratulations danno!
Carma is showing up again!
That Hess should be a Great user.

It was great to meet you Brian, your enthusiasm/passion simply bubbles over! Really Great seeing older friends and meeting new ones, I had forgotten just how much fun the Oregon show is after a 4 year layoff.

It was awesome meeting you too, Dave! It's hard not to be passionate when it comes to our little niche. :D

I love the Hess, I regret not getting one years ago when they used to keep them in stock at rivers edge cutlery. Last few times I visited the store they didn’t have any and didn’t think they would be getting more.
I think I read on here many moons ago that Hess production is so low these days they are rarely seen in the wild.
