 Im new to kershaw, but i just bought a chive" i think" for only 35 bucks at a hardwear store and im shocked:eek: by the quality. Its made in the u.s.a and is awesome. I dont know how they do it for only 35 bucks. Maybe i just caught a freek but im very, very picky; and i have to say inmo , its on par with with my benchmades. I looked this little speed safe over, and its pretty close to perfect, and thats a bold statement coming from a hardcore chris reeves , and william henry man. Has anyone else even been shocked by the awesome quality of the little bad boys.

I've had one, but wasn't that impressed. I never got past the itty bitty size of it to pay much attention to the other details. Glad you like yours.

yea i got my timberline med wortac for $35 and it was a great deal..one of my favorites....thick liners...good lockup....no blade play at all...aus8 steel

That's one of the advantages of this golden age of knives we live in. :)

Manufacturers are challenged constantly by the availability of better and better designs and quality control, to improve their own operations. Taking on custom makers as partners in design leads to raising the bar on manufacturing quality as well.

The fit and finish of my Kershaw is also very good, so I don't think your's is an accident.

I totally agree. Great design, perfect grinds and no blade play. I've also never had a problem with the Speed-Safe.

I've had a Chive for about three years and I've really used it much more than a 2" gentleman's knife is supposed to be used. I've cut brush in the yard, fitted 1 x 3 fur strips, cut a mile of cardboard and also trimmed cigars. This thing has gotten beat up cleaning drains, stripping wires and fixing the car.

I don't use the safety lock and it's never opened un-announced. I love this thing. The one thing I did to "improve" it was to add a short lanyard. It adds a little length so my pinky has some purchase. ft

I have a Chive and a Random Leek and they are both finished very well. I also was shocked at the quality. Can't say the same for my Kershaw Avalanche. :)

I was blown away by the quality of the Kershaw Storm II I had.

It's a $30 knife and that thing is great. Absolutely perfect fit and finish. Perfect lock up. Made in the USA. Recurve blade. Frame Lock. Even had a small flipper to help you open the blade like most Kershaw's have.

I'm beginning to be drawn more to Kershaw's lately. Cool knives.

I have a Scallion that I am very impressed with. I held a Chive at the store first but it was too small even for me and I like small knives. I first assumed it was made in Japan but was later pleasantly surprised to find it was US made. I read that US Federal law requires that assisted openers sold in the US must be made in the US. I'm not 100% sure if that is true.

I find that My Scallion's AO is a bit more reliable than my SOG Twitch 2 (also made in the US). I was intimidated at the thought of sharpening the recurve blade of the Scallion but a few strokes on the Sharpmaker does a nice job. Kershaw's 420HC is pretty good.
