Going through some pics I forgot about, I found some from one of Christophers survival classes from a couple years back. I need to get on more of them, they are always fun .

We made some quickie bows. The one on the right wasn't made in the field though.

I know I have more somewhere, just can't seem to find them right now. I had some pics of me getting my first coal, then fire from the hand drill which was an awesome experience!

cool pics T... i need to take one of christopher's classes one of these days...

Christopher is a walking, talking encyclopedia on all things survival, especially on plant life. One of the nicest most down to earth guys too. For me, it was almost like meeting a rockstar the first time I met him :D

I would love to get out there and take some of Chris's classes sometime! I've been reading his articles in "Backwoodsman" and "Wilderness Way" magazines for years. One of my favorite articles was one he wrote for "Backwoodsman" back in 1997. It was entitled "How Big is Your Knife?" It dealt with usable field cutlery.

Got a link to that anywhere?

BTD, no I don't! I wish I did. I actually have that issue at home, and I re-read it every once in a while. I've had a subscription to "Backwoodsman" for years now. I'll be home late tomorrow night. Later this week, I can scan the article and send it to you, if you wish.

I have taken two of his classes so far. The wild foods outings and they are a blast! He is a great guy, and the classes are not class there more like friendly get together where you just happen to learn a lot while doing it!

Next one i am taking will be the longer survival one. Cant wait.

He carries a sak and a CS Bushman that he really beats the hell out of. I watched him use a rock to baton the Bushman through all kinds of wood. He makes the most use out of regular garden clippers though, cutting vegetation as we hike.

Those are great pics. Give us more!

i've seen a lot of pics with him, using those garden clippers...:D

I just think it's funny that many people on this forum will spend so much time keeping survival in mind when buying a knife, and will spend high dollar for it, but survival experts usually carry the basics

Being that this is a knife centric forum, that doesn't surprise me. Me for instance, I have more knives than I could possibly need. But that's because I like them and like trying out different ones.
But Christopher definitely falls in the "The More you know, the Less you need" category. He does not carry a lot of gear, and could survive indefinitely out there.

now as im not working on saturday no more after all those years im going to hit some of his classes.. This weekend he has one that is free for wild plants. I would see if i can take my niece with me...
