Survival Instructors of Quality????

Not what you're looking for but...after attending Greg's course last summer, I would have to say ANY and ALL USAF survival instructors. They know their stuff and the know how to teach it. Greg's usual partner was unable to attend our course, so he got another SERE instructor to come along. Jeff Martin was terrific. I couldn't believe how in tune these guys were with each other, like they had been working together for many years. Imagine our surprise when we learned that Greg and Jeff had met for the first time on the day before our course! But they had been through the same training - though at different times - and that was enough.

Although I went on a BYU survival course in 1976, I never met Larry Olson. Nevertheless, seems to me he would belong on the short list.

My instructor was Larry Wells. I've lost contact with him. Does anyone know Larry and Karen Wells? Last I heard they were in Rexburg, ID, but that was about 15-17 years ago. I have reason to be concerned for his well being. If anyone knows of him and if he's OK, I'd sure like to know!

Has anyone here attended any of Tom Brown's courses? If so any comments? Thanks.

hi bill,

i am going to san antonio next wednesday for a retirement party. jeff martin's boss, a dear old friend of mine and fellow usaf survival trained instructor, is leaving the service. i hope i can survive the reunion with a bunch of egotistical friends. if i am not posting the following week... i probably didn't.

first stop... jumps - bob's final jump as a military man.
second stop... formal retirement.
third stop... the retirement party which is more dangerous than the jumps.

i will tell jeff you said 'hi'

Greg,

Yeah, say hi to Jeff for me. Good guy!

SERE retirement party? I doubt even Texas is big enough for that much collective ego!

I keep checking your website looking for pictures from your January trip, but they aren't there yet. Are they gonna be?

Take care, friend.

Bill

well it is off to San Antonio, Tx. Should be a lot of fun. Bill, you may be right, however, I am sure the egos will be flying

Good question. Something I've wondered about. Most of his students are high on him, but you never hear much about him, or Olson, on the forums.

Hi all (esp. the Europeans),
do you know instructors in Europe, esp. in Germany. Does the US airforce still have survival training in Germany?
Thanks
Robert

Hi all,

Don't know anything about TB classes... hear they are more spiritual than skills oriented.

I am not aware of USAF Survival Classes being taught in Germany.

As far as the retirement party I went to.... was a lot of fun... only a couple of small injuries...

Bill Qualls, Jeff said "hi"
