Let me know what you all think about my views on survival kit basics.
1. Gurkha Kukri (a real one) is very good to have as the big knife in your gear. Any one who researches the forum in other areas will see that I am a confirmed gurkha and kukri nut!
2. The British wire saw with rings. Very good bit of kit! never have tried to use it as a snare though.
3. The NATO survival compass(dry) miniture. You would not believe how many ways you can hide that little compass in or about your body.
3. American VS-17 panel marker
4. Camelback Hydration system
5.Tobacco tins are traditionally the container to use for survival items but I also like the watertight containers by a company called Safesport.
6. Shemaghs. Arab head scarves Have you noticed lately that Shemaghs are thge fashion item? I have seen a shemagh save someones life as a make shift bandage! A very practical bit of kit. I could go on but I have to go for now Ive got to cook some Gurkha Curry for some brave dinner guests my wife has invited over for tonight. More later Cheers!
